**The opportunity**

This is a full-time permanent opportunity for a Marine Operations Manager to join a highly supportive, well-established team reporting into the General Manager Technology Operations. As Marine Operations Manager you’ll be responsible for the operations and maintenance of all Vocus Marine Cable systems Including the Australia Singapore Cable (ASC), North West Cable Systems (NWCS), Darwin Jakarter Singapore Cable (DJSC) and any future marine cable systems Vocus builds or operates. The role will work across functional areas to maintain the high availability and resiliency of the Submarine Systems.

**must hold current Australian citizenship** status to meet governmental criteria for NV1 Baseline Clearance, which is essential for this role.

**What you’ll be doing day-to-day**
- Own the uptime, maintenance and operation of all equipment related to the submarine systems, working across teams particularly transmission, power, facilities, and OSS to ensure Vocus KPIs and SLAs for the systems are adhered to and cable system security is maintained at the highest possible levels.
- Work with International regulators to ensure Vocus is operating appropriately within those jurisdictions meeting all necessary compliance and audit requirements.
- Manage Marine maintenance providers and vessel operators to enact any works required to be completed on the systems including damage repairs and maintenance.
- Work with the special projects team on the operational requirements, operations establishment and operationalization of any new cables systems Vocus develops.
- Work with engineering and capacity teams on capacity and growth forecasts managing demand on the systems.
- Represent Vocus in cable management and maintenance consortiums.
- Manage vendor relationships for all submarine related equipment.
- Work with both foreign and domestic governments on the enforcement of cable protection zones and the security of submarine cable systems.

**What you’ll bring to this role**
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline e.g., computer engineering, network engineering, marine telecommunications engineering.
- Global communications networks and service management/ITIL framework experience.
- Prior experience managing cabotage arrangements and working across international marine boarders.
- Experience with international logistics, port's, vessel loading procedures and managing 3rd parties working at sea.
- Extensive knowledge of power control messaging arrangements and requirements in a repair scenario
- Demonstrable experience managing 3rd party infrastructure service providers and driving vendor performance.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering procedures for proactive system design, capacity planning, maintenance and life cycle management.
- Extensive experience in leading delivery teams including distributed teams and remote international workforces**.**
