Disability Support Worker

**Note: The support staff should be available to do sleepover shifts.**

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Disability Support Worker (Female) is responsible for implementing training and support services aimed at maximising the living, employment, social and recreational skills of people with a disability. Community inclusion, independence, decision making, and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs.

**MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Providing care and support to participants in line with their personalised care plans, including:

- Personal tasks
- Domestic assistance
- Social support
- Transport
- Meal preparation
- Group participation
- Life skills development
- Regular Documentation & Reporting
- Behavioural management

**QUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS**:
Have Cert III/IV Individual Support, Mental Health, Aged Care, Community Services, Disability Work or similar.
**Essential requirements of the role**:

- NDIS working screening check
- Current WWCC, Criminal Record Check and First Aid Certificate
- Valid Driver's License
- Covid-19 Vaccination (including booster shot from 12th April 2022)
- Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle
- Access to Smart phone
- Right to work in Australia
- Two professional references
- Working With Children Check
- National Criminal History check
- A second language is desirable but not essential

**EXPERIENCE**:

- Preferred Minimum 12 months relevant experience
- Experience supporting People with Disability.
- Experience supporting People with Mental Health
- Demonstrated Continuing Professional Development.
- Knowledge of continuous quality improvement principles
- Knowledge of Restrictive Practices aligned with a comprehensive Behaviour Intervention Support Plan (BISP) with a Behaviour Intervention Support Practitioner.
- Can manage complex and challenging situations calmly and rationally.

**SKILLS**:

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build rapport and trust with participants and stakeholders.
- Strong time management and ability to prioritise.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs and other computer systems for record keeping.
- Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent, Casual

**Salary**: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
