**THIS POSITION REPORTS TO**:ASSISTANT GM (PRODUCTION)**

**OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assist in manufacture of hose according to quality standards and procedures and as instructed by Production manager.
- Hands-on involvement in daily production.
- Assist with quality control and quality management.
- Have LEAN manufacturing experience and able to assist with LEAN manufacturing implementation and management.
- Arrange and carry out product testing and recording of results.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Diploma/Degree in Engineering (Industrial / Mechanical / Manufacturing) desirable.
- Good command of English and good writing skills.
- Needs to be mechanically minded or have extensive factory experience.
- Experience within a plastics or têxtile manufacturing environment is an advantage.
- Have experience in Quality Control management.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing.
- Skilled in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access)

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**

**1. SAFETY**
- You are responsible for your own safety - Work Safely
- Identify and report hazards to supervisor.

**2. OPERATION OF MACHINERY**
- Assist in daily production runs and setting up of equipment. It is essential that you have a good understanding of the manufacturing process.
- Note that this will include extruding as well as weaving.

**3. QUALITY**
- Familiarise yourself with the quality manual and procedures.
- Identify any suggested improvements in quality manufacturing
- Write up QCR’s (Quality control reports) on any quality issue, whether this is raised externally or internally. Note Production Manager will assist in identifying / recommending course of actions.
- Able to write up quality documents and procedures so that factory staff can understand clearly tasks and follow these “standards” / instructions.
- Assist in training and communicating quality and or agreed manufacturing procedures to factory staff.

**4. LEAN MANUFACTURING**
- Support Engineering Manager in implementing and supervising Lean manufacturing processes and controls.
- Assist with writing up clear work instructions along Lean culture.
- Assist to writing up and implementing Quality Control process in all production depts. (Weaving, Extrusion)
- Assist with writing up and getting signage placed around factory supporting lean process.
- Assist in identifying continuous improvement processes.
- Supervise factory staff in ensuring tools and equipment are packed away in designated areas.
- Housekeeping - ensure work area is left tidy at the end of each shift and weekly clean up.

**5. COMMUNICATION**
- Keep Engineering Manager informed on a day-to-day basis as to production progress and of any issues arising in the workplace.
- Assist and support/ train factory staff to complete and hand in daily logs as required.
- Attend weekly meetings with Production Department and action agreed items.
- Communicate clearly and courteously with teammates.
- Team player yet able to work independently

**6. MAINTENANCE**
- Support Engineering Manager in developing a maintenance schedule for production equipment.
- Support Production manager in ensuring maintenance is carried out as required. Note that we have an engineering department who can perform major upgrades, but basic maintenance is carried out by operators.

**7.0** **DELEGATION**

In the absence of the Engineering Manager, all duties will be undertaken by Production Supervisor as assigned by the Production Manager.

**8.0 Working Hours**
- Start 7.00am to 3.30pm, (8hrs work, 30 min breaks). Can start a little later if desired.
- Punctuality and reliability are important

**9.0 Probation Period: 3 months**

**10.0 Other Information**
- Training will be provided.
- We are looking for someone for the long term, to stay with the company for an extended period through the growth phase. This is a hands-on role.
- You will be within a production team of 5 assistants in extruding and 5 in weaving.

**Salary**: $90,000.00 - $99,990.00 per year

Schedule:
