Health Insurance Actuary - Lead the team

APRA is seeking an experienced health insurance actuary to join the Insurance and Actuarial team within our Policy and Advice Division.
The team provides specialist risk and actuarial expertise on insurance risk, capital and a range of technical and industry matters. The team works closely with APRA’s Supervision teams to ensure Australians' financial interests are protected and that the financial system is stable, competitive and efficient.
This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute to projects that shape the practices and prudential regulation of insurers. You will collaborate with a wide range of industry stakeholders and have an opportunity to be involved in policy related work including the transition of the industry to the new capital framework.
- Working alongside other specialists, this role has responsibility for:
- Managing a team of health insurance specialists
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver quality insurance and actuarial advice
- Contributing to the development of prudential standards and guidelines
- Assessing insurer practices to address key risks, which includes undertaking off-site and on-site reviews
- Developing and implementing activities that contribute to sound supervision outcomes pursuant to the APRA mandate.
To be successful in this role you will have highly developed technical expertise in health insurance matters and well-developed people management skills. You will have substantial organisational, self and team priority management skills. The role also requires you to demonstrate well-developed communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
