**The Role**
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Dispute Resolution team, providing management advice and interpersonal conflict resolution expertise to both Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel and Australian Public Service (APS) in the Department of Defence. As the Dispute Resolution Manager (DRM) you will be self-motivated, working both autonomously and as part of a national, geographically dispersed team, providing state and national support.
You will be responsible for building and enhancing leadership capability, delivering preventive training workshops on policy, procedures and resolution to all levels of Defence (ADF and APS). Tailoring training methods to meet the needs of the organisation, workplaces and participants, whilst embedding sustainable learning outcomes.
You will show flexibility to respond to shifting priorities and changing Defence environments, with the agility to realign resources to meet Defence’s mission. You will provide timely, specialist advice and guidance on workplace behaviour, conflict resolution and unacceptable behaviour management. Engaging in complex workplace conflicts, requiring high levels of sensitivity, privacy and respectful engagement with all parties involved to develop resolution strategies.
**About our Team**
Within the HR Services Branch, the Directorate of Complaints and Resolution is geographically dispersed, managing a range of people functions including administrative review, complaints management and dispute resolution. The Directorate, provides whole of Enterprise complaint management and resolution services, to empower Defence personnel with sustainable tools and resources to effectively manage disputes and resolve issues at the lowest appropriate level.
The contribution of our Dispute Resolution Managers and Alternative Dispute Resolution panels (ADF and APS) are truly valued and recognised as directly supporting Defence to achieve its mission. ADR services include but not limited to mediations, facilitated conversations, conflict coaching and workshops.

- Understand how your role as a DRM supports and contributes to the Defence organisation

- Demonstrated experience and confidence in developing and delivering training workshops and presentations, both in-person and virtually, employing effective facilitation techniques to engage participants, improve understanding and encourage active participation
- Utilise highly developed interpersonal skills to establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships across the wider organisation
- Communicate effectively with both military members and APS employees to identify core issues, and establish appropriate intervention strategies
- Demonstrate a strong capacity to handle a challenging workload independently whilst sustaining self-driven performance
- Lead, manage and mentor your ADR practitioner panel (nationally accredited mediators and coaches), train and maintain Workplace Behaviour Advisor network (ADF and APS personnel trained to provide advice and guidance on unacceptable behaviour matters)
