**About the role**
Our client is on the lookout for an experienced Purchasing Officer to manage the purchasing and production space within their successful business. Based in Moorabbin, this role requires someone who has a strong attention to detail and has great time management skills. This role encompasses adhering to the business' set policies and procedures surrounding purchasing and maintaining strong inventory levels. You will be an individual who loves to add value to the business and enjoy collaborating positively with both internal and external stakeholders.
**Responsibilities**
Reporting to the Project Manager, your role will include but not be limited to;
- Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs
- Research potential vendors
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery
- Update internal databases with order details (dates, vendors, quantities, discounts)
- Evaluate offers from vendors and negotiate better prices when required
- Prepare cost analyses
- Maintain updated records of invoices and contracts
- Follow up with suppliers, as needed, to confirm or change orders
- Liaise with warehouse staff to ensure all products arrive in good condition
- Negotiate with existing suppliers for better pricing
- Maintaining price lists
- Calculating pricing for custom made products for re-sell (using existing formulas set in place)
**Skills & Experience**
- Previous experience in a Purchasing role (retail would be beneficial)
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Proficient use of the MS Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Motivated and reliable attitude to work
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
