**The Opportunity**

The key focus of this role is to manage the Analytics Engineering team to support HCM and Bupa HI in our understanding of claiming to support the business and HCM Data Science and Insights team in problem-solving and decision-making across the Healthcare Management area. This role will work closely with the analytics team to ensure availability and access to high-quality data relating to claiming, customer health, customer, and provider segmentation.

The role demands a driven leader with strong leadership and management skills, and the ability to understand customer and business problems and prepare and provide the data required to support the solution of complex problems across the healthcare provider space. Strong knowledge of Private Health Insurance and associated data is essential.

**Responsibilities**

No two days are same in this role but major responsibilities include:

- Manage the performance of the team in line with Bupa Australia procedures through both performance and coaching processes and in a way that leads to improvements to people engagement.
- Provide technical leadership and management of a team of analytics engineers to enable claiming and commercial insights to support problem-solving and decision-making across HCM.
- Establish a strong culture of data stewardship and governance in line with Bupa Enterprise Standards.
- Work closely with the Bupa Data Program to support the transition of current HCM data architecture to the Microsoft Azure Platform. Provide advice and guidance as to future requirements for HCM and support ongoing improvement and expansion of data available including extended customer and claims data.
- Coach and upskill the analytics engineering team on contemporary use of tools and platforms.
- Drive a culture of high performance to ensure we are focused on the right metrics to deliver our aspiration for future growth both within PHI and other categories.
- Build a collaborative culture, leveraging cross-functional capability to solve problems within broader HI team and across the business.
- Work within an agile framework to deliver incremental value to the business and customers throughout the analytics projects or enhancements to existing solutions.
- Be accountable for the quality control of the HCM data warehouse being delivered.
- Champion innovation, customer centricity and change throughout the business to increase Bupa’s capacity and capability to accelerate change for competitive advantage.
- Foster a strong culture of development to drive high performance and attract/retain talent in the team.
- Learn and upskill in new capabilities that become available as Bupa transitions its data from SAS to the Microsoft Azure Platform.

**Qualifications & Training**:

- Degree qualified in Data Engineering or equivalent area (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field). Experience:

- Strong understanding of the role of Analytics Engineer, where the role fits and how the role impacts a modern data organisation.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in data warehousing, engineering, pipelining, analytics, and servicing the business with data solutions.
- Significant experience with a variety of data analytics and reporting tools including SAS, Microsoft Azure, Power BI, and Python.
- Proven management experience leading a data engineering, reporting and/or analytics team delivering commercial outcomes within a service-based industry
- Significant experience in working with large, complex, and unstructured datasets plus understanding of data landscape
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively influence a diverse range of stakeholders including senior leaders, technical and functional specialists, operational and line managers
- Experience in successfully partnering across functions in the development and implementation of strategies to deliver commercial outcomes within complex, matrix organisations
- Strong written and presentation skills and the ability to convert data into insight and prepare compelling, persuasive reports and presentations
- Proven ability to perform and deliver often under tight time constraints
- High proficiency building and developing a high performing team of diverse skill sets
- Knowledge of Private Health Insurance and associated data is essential
