**Who we are**
The Biosecurity Digital Reform Branch is comprised of four sections:
**Cargo Systems**

**Conveyance, Passenger and Mail Systems**
CPM Systems section provide ongoing support of business processes that reduce biosecurity risk on conveyance, international traveller, and mail pathways through system maintenance and defect resolution, release management, system requirements and solution design as well as supporting business requirements.

**Biosecurity Risk Assessment Digital**
Biosecurity Risk Assessment Digital (BRAD) is responsible for the system administration and development of plant, animal, compliance, and other science systems. These systems assist in the protection from increasing biosecurity risks to agriculture, the environment and Australia’s way of life through strengthening and improving quality and evidence-based policy advice and reform.

**Biosecurity System and Development Support**
The Biosecurity System and Development Support (BSDS) team is responsible for the system administration, ongoing improvement and training functions for digital systems critical for the management of biosecurity risk into Australia. These systems facilitate industry and the public to import animals and goods into the country effectively, efficiently, and to biosecurity standards. BSDS also manages branch wide processes such as communications for unplanned outages.

**The Job**
The main duties of the position may include, but are not limited to:

- leading the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance and support for one or more IT systems
- overseeing system testing across a range of IT systems to support upgraded functionality and defect fixes
- working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure that urgent issues are prioritised correctly and monitored closely until resolved
- engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders to identify efficiency opportunities, achieve beneficial outcomes, and facilitate cooperation across the systems’ stakeholder group
- creating and maintaining system support and governance documentation
- identifying and implementing improvements to support processes and creating, reviewing, and maintaining support and process documentation
- representing and accurately communicating the views of the branch and division at various forums
- actively participating in management meetings and leading team meetings where required
- managing IT system administration functions, providing support for several complex IT systems, and escalating issues appropriately using the identified mechanisms
- management of IT system enhancement programmes, including release scheduling, requirements gathering, contributing to solution design, stakeholder engagement and testing activities (User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Business Verification Testing (BVT) and Business Experience and Assurance Testing (BEAT))
- identifying, developing, and implementing improvement opportunities related to system and business processes
- overseeing and providing input for updates to instructional material
- using established frameworks, planning and delivering system testing and prove testing outcomes summary reporting
- after hours system business verification testing (on a rotation basis across available staff).

**Please note** that this recruitment process will be used to fill both ongoing and non-ongoing positions across the sections listed above. If an offer of non-ongoing employment is made, the successful applicant would be employed for an initial period of 12 months with the possibility of extension up to a maximum period of 2 years in total. Some of these non-ongoing positions may become ongoing in the next 18 months. Should a position become ongoing then the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of 18 months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may be used to fill the vacancy on an ongoing basis. The merit pool may also be used to fill future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies in the division where the duties are of a similar nature.
