**What You Will Be Doing**
As a peer worker in the Forensic Mental Health in Community Health team you are responsible for utilising your own history with the criminal justice system and mental health recovery to deliver services assisting people who are currently experiencing mental health challenges while involved in the criminal justice system. The role requires an ability to instil hope and to support individuals to engage in treatment and support services and to anticipate and address psychological, social and financial challenges of re-entry into the community. Forensic peer specialists serve as a community guide, coach and advocate helping people to feel supported to work towards their recovery goals.

**What You Need**
We anticipate you will have:

- Qualification equivalent to (or above) Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work and/or similar.
- Completion of the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) training.
- Lived experience with mental health and the criminal justice and/or the forensic mental health system
- Understanding the diversity of cultural, linguistic and gender backgrounds of our community, and the impact this has on consumers and their families’ experience of mental health.
- Well-developed communication and listening skills
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office

**Additional Requirements**
- Please refer to Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement 2020-2024 salary circular for salary range. Sub-grading will be based on years of experience.
