The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) is responsible for the supervision of children and young people in the Victorian criminal justice system. Youth Justice is responsible for overseeing services responding to children and young people in the criminal justice system, providing strategic advice and delivering strategic outcomes to address youth crime and reduce offending

The Community Operations & Practice Team provides leadership, oversight and advice to support the ongoing development of state-wide community-based youth justice services.

As outlined in the Youth Justice Act, the Community Service Order (CSO) is a rehabilitative and non-custodial sentencing option, allowing young people to engage in community work via a community-based disposition.

**The Opportunity**
- Fixed term, full-time position until 30 June 2027 based in Melbourne.
- CYF Grade 5 role: $118,818 - $136,747per year plus superannuation.
- Contribute to the design and development of the new Community Service Order (CSO) - a new order legislated under the Youth Justice Act 2024, and other Youth Justice (YJ) reforms.
- Lead the development, drafting and operationalisation of CSO policies and procedures.
- Coordinate project delivery and implementation work for the CSO, and other YJ reforms, including workforce planning, recruitment and staff training.
- Establish and manage relationships with community service providers to support the delivery of community work for young people on a CSO.

**To be successful in this role you will have experience in project and policy design and delivery. You will also have strong project management skills, strategic coordination, stakeholder engagement and a focus on rehabilitative outcomes for young people.**

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
