At RAC, our General Manager Legal & Commercial plays a vital role in overseeing the delivery of legal and commercial frameworks that support our group strategy. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will provide expert legal advice, ensuring compliance with corporate legal obligations to safeguard the interests of the RAC Group. Additionally, you will lead and develop our talented legal and commercial teams. This role will be offered as a full-time permanent role, based at RAC’s West Perth office.

What will you be doing:

- Provide/oversee astute legal advice and pragmatic solutions to RAC Group Business Units, project teams, and cross-functional working groups.
- Represent RAC as legal counsel in court and with legal actions, including member disputes.
- Provide guidance on matters concerning legal and regulatory compliance.
- Provide support on mergers and acquisitions.
- Oversee the development and evaluation of Commercial Framework Service Level Agreements to ensure objectives and targets are met.
- Ensure efficient and effective legal services and client satisfaction.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, providing guidance on ‘best practice’ and changes to legislation.
- Manage the financial performance of the legal and commercial teams.
- Contribute to the annual strategic business planning process.
- Provide effective leadership to the team and empower all team members to deliver successful business outcomes, fostering a culture of engagement and empowerment.
- Other aspects of the role include managing intellectual property matters within the organisation, and managing the legal aspects of work health and safety matters that arise.

What we are looking for in you?
- Law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) and a current practising certificate are mandatory.
- Extensive post-admission legal experience with a corporate/commercial focus, either in-house or from a leading private practice.
- Strong senior leadership experience.
- Strong work ethic with high levels of integrity.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing and negotiating commercial contracts and mitigating risks.
- Experience in managing litigation.
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions.
- Excellent commercial acumen and a pragmatic approach.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact and influence a diverse range of clients.
