**_About the role_**

Within the framework of the mission, vision, values, philosophy and policies of Calvary, the Staff Specialist will be responsible for the provision of high quality, safe and effective clinical management of patients. The Staff Specialist works within an inter-disciplinary team to ensure timely, appropriate care and effective discharge strategies. Duties will include patient care, supervision and teaching, continuing medical education, research and administration.

Key Responsibilities
- To perform clinical services for Inpatients and Emergency presentations as required and to participate in the bed allocation process and management of transfer of care and patient flow according to patient need and the Hospital’s requirements.
- Provide clinical leadership to junior colleagues by ensuring a high standard of patient care which conforms to best practice and is evidence based.
- To develop, promote, encourage and participate in Staff Development Programs
- To participate in the development and execution of innovative programs in both the delivery of care and clinical training.

**_What you bring_**
- A Primary Medical Degree registrable with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- A desire to join a team committed to the care of others in a mission-based organisation
- Demonstrated experience and/or qualification(s) in General and Acute Care Medicine, and a commitment to Outreach programs delivering health care to rural or remote settings.
- Demonstrated capacity for clinical leadership, a commitment to undergraduate and post-graduate teaching in medicine, nursing and allied health and willingness to participate in clinical research.
- The Calvary Mater Newcastle is an Affiliated Health Organisation providing services to both public and private patients primarily from the Hunter New England area. Current employees of NSW Health can request to have various leave entitlement balances transferred to Calvary Mater Newcastle on commencement.
