Head of Product Management: Debt Products

**How will I help?**

Reporting to the MD, Head of Debt Products you will be an integral part of the leadership team delivering Debt Products to our core institutional customers. Westpac’s Corporate and Institutional Bank’s (CIB) debt product suite includes Loans & Syndications, Acquisition Finance, Project Finance, Trade Finance, Asset Finance, Structured Finance, Debt Capital Markets and Sustainable Finance.

In this Head Of role, y our focus will be the leadership of product management functions of CIB Debt Products. This includes debt product design, governance, management, policies, controls and technology systems. It is a distinctive opportunity to bring your strong debt product experience to take a significant leadership role sitting within the business.

You will lead the strategy for Product Management consistent with CIB strategy and deliver product management and governance in line with policy and regulatory requirements. You’ll have strategic input into Group and Line of Business (LOB) product management governance artefacts and processes to ensure suitability for CIB. With extensive experience in new product proposals, you will lead projects including new / changed products, remediation, data, and value chain programmes of work.

You will hold deep debt product experience in Australia or Internationally. You will lead a team of product experts to play a key support role to origination teams in structuring and monitoring of transactions and development of products and solutions for our customers. This leadership role will require you to engage and motivate a team of ~20, attracting and retaining talent.

A strong negotiator and influencer, you will be required to maintain strong working relationships with Industry Coverage teams, Business Controls & Monitoring, Chief Operating Office, Business Division, New Zealand, Service, Operations, Technology, Risk and Assurance to meet product objectives.

**What do I need?**

To be set up for success in this role, you will need to demonstrate:

- Proven ability to successfully lead a team of debt product management specialists;
- Work closely with debt product origination teams to deliver best in class product capability and risk management;
- deep experience across product design, governance, product management, policies, controls and technology systems;
- strong debt product experience, with a demonstrated capacity to understand the end-to-end value chain, including financial and operating risks;
- knowledge and demonstrated implementation of compliance and risk management. Including remediation of product related issues, incidents and complaints;
- minimum tertiary qualification in Finance or related discipline;
- a self-starter mindset with strong written and oral communication skills; and
- strong leadership, influencing and teamwork skills.
