In this role, you will be an integral and valued member of a highly skilled and high-performing Women’s Bail Advocacy Program (WBAP) team, within the Criminal Law Practice. You will assist our multidisciplinary team in delivering the WBAP, which advocates for appropriate bail conditions for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands women to reduce avoidable remand and provides trauma-informed wrap-around support to Women in contact with the criminal legal system.
Each day, you can expect to:

- Liaise with Police, Solicitors, Court Staff, Corrective Services staff, WBAP staff, other ALS staff members, and stakeholders for specified tasks as requested by solicitors or the WBAP manager, including sending briefs, confirming dates, and making appointments.
- Prepare correspondence, affidavits, court reports and other documents using MS Office.
- Undertake legal research or program-specific research and data analysis as directed.
- Assist clients to meet their non-legal support needs and make and follow-up referrals to appropriate support services.
**Who are we looking for?**
You are a highly skilled and motivated individual with a thorough understanding of the cultural, social, and historical needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. You will be able to demonstrate:
- Previous experience working in a legal practice or currently studying a degree in Law or a related field.
- Commitment to the principles of social justice.

- Excellent phone manners and communication skills.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and the ability to multi-task and work accurately.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and work independently in a team environment with limited supervision.
Join us and become part of an organisation that deeply values integrity, teamwork, and a commitment to social impact. This is your chance to grow, contribute, and create a lasting positive impact
