This 12 month traineeship based in **Fitzroy** provides support to the Care Services Operations Support Unit of the department.

**Eligibility Criteria**
- Be aged between 15 and 29 years at the commencement of the traineeship
- Not currently engaged in tertiary education
- Not have attained a university level qualification (excluding 1-4 certificates)
**Position Overview**
The position works closely with Child Protection, Care Services, Kinship Engagement Teams, Out of Home Care Service Providers and Peak Organisations to support best outcomes for children in statutory care.
The Helpdesk Team provides a critical role across all five areas above in undertaking care support activities for children in all care types. This includes support provided to children entering care, to improve the consistency and timeliness of information such as document sharing, particularly critical identity documents for children in care, such as birth certificates and Medicare cards.

**Key accountabilities**
- Supporting the completion of administrative functions for children who have entered out of home care.
- Assist with day-to-day functions of the Helpdesk, including redirecting incoming mail and responding to phone enquires made by Foster and Kinship carers.
- Under general direction, provide assistance with office processes and corporate information systems such as records management, financial information, and client payments.
- Keep records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Provide support in the presentation of meetings and conferences, including coordinating papers, organising venues, catering, agendas, taking minutes and follow-up actions and making travel and accommodation arrangements.
- Suggest system and process improvements and work in collaboration to implement the agreed solutions
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
