**Position Information**:
Marrickville Public School is situated on the edge of the industrial area of Marrickville in Sydney's vibrant inner west. The heritage-listed school, comprising of four sets of buildings, shares its site with Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre, Aspect Special Education School and YMCA Out of School Hours care. The school's spacious playgrounds include significant native gardens, a kitchen garden and a yarning circle.

The school was established in 1864 and has catered to a culturally and socially diverse, fluctuating population for over 150 years of public education. The current student population is 239, of whom 20 identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. 29% of students are from language backgrounds other than English with Vietnamese, Greek and Tagalog being the most common languages spoken. We are proudly inclusive and both support and celebrate all forms of diversity within our school community.

Marrickville Public School is a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) School. The school's PBL team lead the development and implementation of programs to support the social, emotional and physical wellbeing of students.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary and demonstrate the capacity to work as part of an executive team and balance exemplary classroom practice and management skills with the complexities of the Assistant Principal role.

2. Demonstrated ability to lead and build teacher capacity in the implementation of high quality literacy and numeracy programs, using evidence-based assessment and effective data analysis to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

3. Demonstrated understanding of, and capacity to implement high-impact professional learning and curriculum reform.

4. A visible and approachable leader with the ability to work as a dynamic member of the leadership team to facilitate, implement and evaluate whole-school initiatives within the Strategic Improvement Plan.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5.
