**About the role**:
- Reporting to the Group Executive for Strategy & Corporate Affairs, our Group Manager Government & Public Affairs will lead efforts in building and maintaining strong relationships with government entities, community organisations, charity partners, and industry stakeholders across Australia. With Ventia's diverse business sectors this position has the opportunity to drive strategic relationships with external parties that have a significant impact on both our business operations as well as the wider Australian & New Zealand communities.- The successful individual will have exceptional communication and engagement skills, unwavering professional integrity and a proven ability to foster an environment of collaboration to strengthen alliances that benefit the business and our strategic goals and objectives. As a key member of the S&CA Leadership Team, you will also take an enterprise view of your leadership impact.- This is a full-time permanent position with a preferred location of Sydney (although Canberra could also be considered).**What you’ll be doing**:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive Government & Public Affairs strategy that aligns with organisational goals, contributes to our growth and enhances our reputation in the community.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with federal, state and local government officials associated with Ventia.
- Foster partnerships with community and charity partners to enhance corporate social responsibility initiatives and ensure alignment with community needs and values.
- Identify and engage with key industry stakeholders and alliances for collaboration that benefit both parties.
- Work with our internal business development community to upskill knowledge of government and industry policies and practices.
- Monitor and analyse relevant public policy developments and trends to provide informed insights and recommendations to executive leadership teams.
- Organise and participate in key events, forums and meetings to promote our business interests and enhance visibility.
- Build relationships with appropriate media organisations to help support the Ventia brand.
**About you**:
- Bachelor's degree in public affairs, political science, communications or related field is preferred.
- Well-developed understanding of the Australian political landscape and public policy processes.
- Have demonstrated success working in public affairs, government relations, stakeholder engagement, preferably in a national role.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with complex internal and external stakeholders.
- Previous experience working with Industry Associations and/or Media to support building organisational awareness.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Confident with public speaking and presenting.
