**About the Role

In this role you will maintain high standards of management practices that ensure the safe and secure management of prisoners whilst providing opportunities for rehabilitation, through effective supervision and prisoner management.

The primary accountabilities of the Deputy General Manager include:
Maintain effective security and intelligence systems and practices within the centre through robust testing processes and contingency testing. Ensure automated security systems and security equipment throughout the facility are maintained and fully operational.
Ensure appropriate systems are in place for persons and vehicles entering and leaving the facility.
Development and implementation of local procedures for the security of the centre.
Ensure the development, implementation, and review of security plans.
Ensure duty of care and workplace health and safety obligations for staff, offenders and the public are met.
Ensure the centre maintains a coordinated approach to emergency situations and the maintenance of effective offender security procedures and controls.
Ensure compliance with legislation and Agency procedures for the management of the centre's security.
Ensure appropriate access to information and files by relevant staff and approved agencies.
Provide leadership to the management teams in the accommodation and offender development functions.
Promote and support human resources and industrial relations processes and policies.
Coach staff in the performance of their duties.
Contribute to the preparation and implementation of the centre's workforce plan.
Implement systems to ensure compliance with departmental procedures and processes.
Ensure workloads and work practices of staff contribute to effectiveness of the accommodation and offender development functions.
Ensure rostering practices are effective and compliant with relevant Awards and policies.
Ensure that training and professional development opportunities are provided to staff.
Appraise performance and provide feedback to management team.
Ensure all staff are equipped with skills and resources to effectively undertake their duties.
Maintain knowledge of legislation, policies and procedures relevant to managing staff.
Maintain knowledge of contemporary management practices.
Prepare and implement a business plan for the accommodation and offender development functions.
Assist the Chief Superintendent, General Manager develop the business plan for the centre.
Assist the Chief Superintendent, General Manager to devise and implement strategies to respond to budget trends and monitor financial statements.
Facilitate the provision of equipment and resources to deliver services.
Ensure resources and work environments are properly maintained and meet operational and WH&S requirements.
Manage the allocation, maintenance and security of resources to ensure security and safety for staff and offenders.
Lead the development, implementation and delivery of offender management systems, programs and processes within the centre.
Manage the delivery of programs and services that meet offenders and community needs and expectations.
Ensure the delivery of programs is consistent with the Integrated Offender Management system (IOMs).
Manage the accurate and timely recording of data for IOMs.
Manage the allocation of work within a risk management framework.
Ensure case management plans and activities occur in a timely and effective manner.
Ensure officers comply with legislation and procedures for the management of offenders.
Maintain knowledge of legislation, policy and procedures relevant to managing staff.
