**Your new role**

Exciting opportunity available for a newly created role, Regulatory Specialist to join the Strategy and Commercial team on a permanent basis. Reporting to the Manager Regulatory, your role will be to optimise economic regulatory outcomes consistent with the organisation’s vision, purpose and values and strategic priorities by actively engaging across business units and with external stakeholders.
- Assist with the development of proposal and supporting submissions to ensure an optimal outcome in relation to capital expenditure, operating costs, market cases, rate of return and tariff path
- Ensure proposals are technically compliant with relevant legislative requirements (e.g. National Gas Law & Rules and/or National Electricity Law & Rules)
- Effective engagement with internal stakeholders to ensure prompt and professional preparation of submissions to the regulator
- Leading assurance activities in relation to regulatory compliance across relevant divisions, including quarterly and annual compliance reviews
- Lead interface with the regulator on all compliance enquiries
- Lead a proactive compliance culture, including developing and delivering relevant training materials
- Supporting execution of the organisation’s strategy
- Provide specialist advice to various business units and joint ventures on economic regulatory matters, including identifying risks and optimising regulatory outcomes
- Provide support to Finance in the preparation of regulatory accounts
- Actively monitor, assess and respond to developments in regulatory legislation, rules and policy settings
- Represent the organisation on industry working groups and committees

**What you'll need to succeed**
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, business, law or related discipline
- Minimum 3 years economic regulatory experience ideally within a highly regulated sector ie electricity, gas, water, telco or regulatory agency
- Strong relationship building and influencing skills
- Demonstrable strength in stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent literacy and communications skills with the ability to put forward considered, rational and detailed arguments both in writing and verbally
