**Research Technician**:
Join our Molecular and Algal Ecology team and work on nationally significant culture collection projects in our state-of-the-art molecular laboratory.
**About the role**:
We have an opportunity for a Research Technician to join our team in providing technical expertise and support with algae culturing and molecular research projects. There may be some method development of molecular work as well.
As part of the role, you will be involved in:
- collection and evaluation of data
- interpretation of results and reporting
- preparation of next-generation sequencing libraries
- routine laboratory and equipment maintenance and calibration
- use of DNA/RNA purification kits, endpoint PCR, electrophoresis gels
- PCR/QPCR/ddPCR assays
- field sampling
This is a permanent full-time position although we are also open to receiving applicants wanting flexible hours.
**About you**:
We’re looking for a tertiary qualified technician who can work independently and manage their own time, as there will be some autonomy as you work on these projects. Ideally, you will also be a team player to join our close-knit team environment.
To be successful you will ideally have:
- a Bachelor of Science or other relevant tertiary qualification
- some prior research or laboratory experience
- some familiarity with environment DNA would be beneficial
- excellent time management and organisational skills
- ability to work within a team
