Council is looking for a motivated and driven individual to develop & manage initiatives that focus on Council's parks recreation planning, open space and streetscapes. This position requires a strategic thinker who can work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including community groups, government agencies, and other departments within Council.
**Responsibilities**:
- Develop and implement open space planning strategies that align with the Council objectives and community needs.
- Coordinate and manage the development of open space plans, policies, and guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify and prioritise open space projects and initiatives.
- Manage the implementation of open space projects, including budget management, procurement, and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide expert advice and support to internal and external stakeholders on open space planning matters.
- Prepare reports and presentations for council, committees, and the community.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders and community groups.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in planning, environmental management, or a related field with demonstrated experience in open space/parks management.
- Proven experience in open space planning, including developing and implementing strategies, policies, and plans.
- Excellent project management skills, including budget management and procurement.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to write reports, policy documents, and presentations.
- A current driver's license is essential.
