**The Opportunity**:
We are seeking an experienced Technical Publication Author to join a dynamic team in **Melbourne** delivering high-quality technical documentation in support of complex Defence programs. As part of an MSP supporting Defence capability development and sustainment, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and usability of documentation for military systems and platforms.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop, write, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including but not limited to:

- Operator manuals
- Maintenance manuals
- Illustrated parts catalogues
- Work instructions and procedural guides
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and configuration data to create technical content in accordance with Defence standards.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, ILS staff and SMEs to gather source information and validate technical accuracy.
- Ensure all publications are compliant with relevant standards including **ASD S1000D, ADF Publication Guidelines, and applicable MIL-STDs.**:

- Conduct document configuration and version control using document management systems.
- Support reviews, updates, and the incorporation of feedback from stakeholders and end-users.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver publication packages aligned with delivery milestones.

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- Demonstrated experience in technical writing/publication development, ideally within the defence or aerospace industry.
- Strong knowledge of technical publication standards such as **S1000D, ADFP, and DEF(AUST) standards.**:

- Experience working with CSDBs and electronic documentation tools (e.g., **Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, Oxygen XML Editor).**:

- Familiarity with engineering and ILS processes, including configuration management and supportability engineering.
- High attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within project teams under tight deadlines.

**Desirable**:

- Experience working within or supporting CASG or other Defence acquisition programs.
- Knowledge of Defence asset lifecycle and sustainment documentation requirements.
- Previous experience within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) model or integrated project team environment.
