**About the Group**
The Strategic Operations Group is an enabling services function providing strategic support to
the Institute. The group comprises 5 areas covering Governance, People Services, Finance,
Digital Services and the new Central Australia facility (Mparntwe).

**About the Program Area**
The People Services Unit sits within the Strategic Operations Group. People Services is
responsible for the delivery of human resource services across the Institute. It is a small team
that delivers workforce planning, recruitment, payroll, and performance as well as providing
sound HR advice and support.
People Services develop strategic HR programs and policies as well as administering key
committees including AIATSIS Consultative committee and Workplace Health and Safety
committee.

**Role Summary**
The Assistant Director will lead a small team responsible for the delivery of recruitment and
payroll services along with capability development and systems, reporting and analytics. You
will work collaboratively with the broader HR team to deliver sound advice to internal and
external stakeholders including executive teams. You will help identify continuous improvement
initiatives and use agile ways of working to support business deliverables.

**Key Responsibilities**
Key responsibilities of the role include:

- develop and improve strategies to enhance HR efficiency, collaborating with and

advising senior leadership to support and align HR initiatives with AIATSIS corporate
goals.
- lead, guide and coach a team of HR professionals across a diverse program of work

including pay and conditions, recruitment, HR systems and reporting, and administrative
support. This will include providing clear guidance and direction to the team and
supporting their ongoing personal and professional development.
- cultivate relationships and successful partnerships and engagements with key internal

and external stakeholders.
- provide advice on a range of routine and complex HR related matters within your

responsibility including resolving escalated service related queries.
