Test Automation and Performance Lead

**The role**:
Reporting to the Automation & Performance Manager, this role provides development coaching and leadership to Automation, Performance and Software Engineers on techniques and practices for implementing quality through the delivery lifecycle. Your collaboration with cross-functional teams will ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality, reliable, and scalable software solutions.

The role is also responsible for crafting, implementing and maintaining robust performance frameworks and tooling, working closely with the Test Lead and stakeholders to assess and evaluate the performance and reliability of IT systems and ensuring they perform optimally when under load.

**Accountabilities**:

- Designing, documenting, executing, and analysing performance tests. Including monitoring and reporting to provide reliable information to stakeholders to make informed decisions.
- Producing all performance-related documents, including test strategies and plans, closure memos.
- Providing high-level technical, operational, and procedural advice relating to system performance
- Working with DevOps cohort to setup and maintain infrastructure as code for test automation and performance platforms and tooling
- Working with Devs and Environment teams to build out mock/stubs and implement Service Virtualisation to assist where real time integrations are not possible
- Pairing with developers, test engineers and senior test engineers to knowledge share and solicit coalface feedback with respect to all aspects of code quality
- Helping resolve particularly complex problems that the team has not experienced
- Automation and performance tool evaluation and analysis
- Curation of automation and performance code standards
- Backlog prioritisation Support out of hours deployment - rotating roster

**Skills, knowledge and qualifications**:

- Essential skills _:
To be effective in this role you should have experience of writing, testing and operating code using:

- Java 10+
- Apache Jmeter/BlazeMeter
- GitLab
- terraform docker
- Technical skills: _
- Proficiency in multiple programming languages like Java, JavaScript, Kotlin, and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with various performance frameworks such as JMeter, Loadrunner, NeoLoad, and K6.
- Experience with testing frameworks like Selenium, Cypress.io, and Playwright. Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitLab, BitBucket, Bamboo, AWS, and Azure DevOps.
- Qualifications, education & training requirements: _
- 5+ years leading mature Technical Test teams.
- Extensive experience in developing, implementing, and maintaining Automated and Performance Test Frameworks.
- Proficient in coordinating Performance test activities in IT projects.
- Demonstrated a high level of knowledge in automated and performance test practices, tools, and techniques, including CI pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to assimilate information quickly and present findings effectively to technical staff, end-users, and management.
- Proficient in problem-solving, time and resource management, and capable of working independently.
- Understanding of AGILE testing methods.
- Postgraduate degree. Affiliation with Technology Institutes.
