**About the Role**
This role will see you work within the Property Team, a small supportive team that manages leases and licenses of Council property, manages tenant relationships including invoicing, and supports internal stakeholders with the management of groups and clubs occupying Council Property.
Working alongside the Property Management Coordinator and Manager Governance, this role will also assist with the discontinuance and sale of roads, Crown Land management, adverse possession matters, creation and removal of easements, and sales and acquisitions.
This role will drive business improvements by liaising with internal departments of Council regarding updates to systems and procedures impacting on the administration of Council's Property Portfolio, ensuring delivery of effective operational practices that ensure compliance with leases and occupancy agreements; and developing forward plans for property activities, including input on policy recommendations, management, leases, conditions of occupancy and design.
This role will also use expertise and judgement to provide property advice to other departments and stakeholders and will develop a thorough understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to field of Property within the Local Government area.
This position is a permanent ongoing role, currently considered part time at 0.6 FTE (with the option to work four days per week around school hours). For a suitable incumbent, if preferred, an increase to full time hours would be considered.
- Diploma qualification with experience or extensive government or commercial property management experience;
- Experience in administration or another professional discipline related to the provision of property and real estate services.
- Local Government Experience is preferred.
- Ability to establish strong working relationships with other departments, tenants, clubs and users of Council property, and management throughout the organisation.
- Ability to negotiate conditions and rental in tenancy situations from both a landlord and tenant perspective with an understanding of the conditions and clauses in standard tenancy agreements.
- High level of written and oral communication skills to effectively convey technical information, policies and statutory requirements.
- Well-developed skills in the use of technology, accurate management of databases and follow up with procedures.
- An understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to field of Property within the Local Government area

This is a small and tight knit business unit where any incumbent would be able to forge strong working relationships with their colleagues and learn a diverse range of skills.
An incumbent would develop an ability to liaise and negotiate with colleagues to gain co-operation and assistance, would grow their research, administrative and analytical skills, and would gain an understanding of the wider political environment and how this relates to property practices and the ethical considerations associated with working for Local Government.
They would enjoy an everchanging environment, where they can interact with a variety of people and enjoy a diverse range of tasks, no two days would be the same.
