General Surgery is led by Mr David Koong, who oversees the medical activities of the department.

- The position will entail attendance at daily operating lists for general, vascular and cardiothoracic surgery.
- Surgical registrars are expected to complete daily ward rounds and perform admitting on call shifts on a one in ten basis.

- By the completion of the year, service registrars would be competent with the clinical assessment and management of the acute surgical patient, have exposure to a wide range of surgical procedures and should be able to perform basic laparoscopic procedures.

**Essential Criteria**
- Eligible for Registration with the Medical Board of Australia
- Evidence of good communication skills
- Passed GSSE part 1 or equivalent

**Requirements**:
Everyone who joins Ramsay:

- Must be **vaccinated against Covid-19** a vaccine approved by the Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation
- Must provide a **National Police** check conducted within the previous 12 months
- According to the role, Ramsay may require a **Working-With-Children **check and **proof of immunisation** against infectious diseases.
