**The Role**
We are seeking a high performing and self-directed APS6 Human Performance & Safety Data Analyst with the skills to meet the following job requirements:

- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the nature of Air Force hazards and risks to ensure that safety systems are established and are operating as planned.
- Monitor as well as triage Air Force safety and performance issues through the analysis of various data sources, internal evaluations, audit results and investigation outcomes.
- Regularly validate as well as measure the quality of safety data being reported to Air Force while providing timely feedback, support and training to Air Force personnel to enable better future reporting.
- Extract, transform and analyse data into actionable intelligence as required by the HPS Directorate.
- Obtain data to measure Air Fore Safety performance, providing credible indicators of safety and human performance.
- Provide technical support in the development of business intelligence solutions and interactive dashboards.

**About our Team**
Headquarters Air Command (HQAC) Human Performance and Safety (HPS) is leading transformational change across Air Force to optimise the performance and well-being, including combat effectiveness, of Air Force personnel. HPS is responsible for developing and delivering relevant and credible HPS support to Unit Commanders and their teams while also ensuring Air Force Senior Leadership enact their due-diligence obligations IAW the Work Health and Safety, Radiation Protection and Environmental Protection Acts.

This is achieved through the development and delivery of innovative and adaptive human performance and risk programs to optimise the relationship between personnel and their equipment (including advanced combat aircraft and weapons systems) through an accurate understanding of the workplace culture and its influence on human behaviour. The outcome is risk-based intelligence (people, plant and process) and data collection/analysis to deliver predictive and pro-active enhancements to workplace performance.

These programs and tools will target all Air Force personnel, with a priority given to those roles exposed to high physical and/or cognitive occupational loads (e.g. Aircrew, Fighter Combat Instructors, Joint Terminal Attack Controllers, Air Defence Guards, Intelligence Officers, trainees etc.) as well as general programs to enhance the long-term effectiveness of all Air Force members.

Air Force Safety are looking for a motivated and driven individual to shape and influence safety culture with a goal of optimising the human element within the Air Force.
- Demonstrated ability and experience in data mining techniques to extract patterns or insights from diverse data sets.
- Experience in using SQL and Data Stage to build/maintain data pipelines for business intelligence purposes.
- Strong written and oral communications skills with demonstrated ability to interpret and present complex information for key stakeholders.
- Existing, or ability to rapidly acquire, knowledge of the Australian Defence Force functions/activities.
