- The Salvation Army Australia’s Family Violence Stream provides a wide range of services around the country to support women and women with children impacted by family and domestic violence. We offer refuge, children’s and parenting services, counselling, support, men’s programs, accommodation and advice to women and children who are experiencing, or who have experienced, family violence.
We are currently seeking a values-driven and proactive Specialist Family Violence Practitioner. This position will provide outreach case management support to women and women with children who have experienced and/ or are currently experiencing family violence. The role will be in instrumental in delivering high quality, safe and effective family violence and child well-being responses to those seeking support, safety, and recovery.
You will successfully
- Deliver assessment and crisis response to adult and child victim survivors in the 24/7 refuge or in crisis accommodation
- Effective relationships are established with clients that encourage self-determination and participation and uphold the principles of the National Family Violence Model of Care.
- Case management and crisis support is provided to clients
- Individual case plans are developed in collaboration with victim-survivors and include a range of interventions that address the needs or goals of clients
- For adult and child victim survivors at the refuge, progress and outcomes of individual case plans are regularly monitored and reviewed and where needed action is taken to ensure the plan continues to meet client needs or goals
- Immediate material aid and other relevant needs of the adult and child victim
- survivors in crisis accommodation are supported
- Work collaboratively with referring organisations to provide crisis support for adult and child victim-survivors
The Family Violence Services works with service users from a feminist perspective, aiming to empower and increase the safety of women and children.
This is a permanent full-time position within the Refuge and Afterhours Crisis Response teams of the Victorian Northwest Family Violence Programs. This position is located in Coburg.
You will have
- A Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent formal learning**:
- Experience working in the family violence sector is desirable.
- Experience in specialist family violence and/ or child wellbeing work is highly desirable
- Demonstrated case management experience and skills
- Highly developed time management and work prioritisation skills with an ability to work autonomously with mínimal supervision required
- Advance computer skills including experience in data and record management
- A current VIC Drivers Licence
- Valid VIC Employee Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
