**About the role**
Reporting to the National Planning Manager, you will be based in our Port Botany Terminal as part of an energetic team of professionals, focused on providing prompt and effective solutions to our customers for vessel planning and vessel operations on a national basis for DP World Australia’s container terminals.
This role will be shift based with both day and night requirements, including some working from home, to meet the operational needs of the business.
**Key accountabilities**
Your role will be to provide quality vessel planning services on a national basis to the main DP World container terminals and our shipping line customers. You should be able to develop and sustain first-class service interfaces with both internal and external customers. You will be the effective link between Ships, terminal supervisors and shipping line’s central planners to create an effective vessel plan.
You will be required to:
- Gain a detailed understanding of each DPWA’s customers by creating a high level of communication with key stakeholders, locally and overseas, vessel crew and our operational staff to deliver excellent customer service.
- Develop efficient plans to load and unload vessels in conjunction with the needs of the container terminals and vessels.
- Manage your customer’s day to day operational needs ensuring the best outcomes in efficiency and finances.
- Develop and improve internal planning processes in the planning centre, utilising and maintaining databases of operational requirements and information.
- Gain knowledge and understanding on how each terminal works to improve your planning capability.
- Be informed of all aspects of ship limitations for services and trade factors that impact upon vessel planning.
**About you**
We are seeking an experienced Shipping/Vessel planner who has an understanding of all areas of vessel operations including coordinating, scheduling and planning.
You will require:
- Ideally a background in shipping as in-depth experience of the operations and methods of large container terminals will be required.
- Experience with internal vessel planning systems.
- High level communication skills and the ability to develop networks and relationships with key stakeholders.
- Evidence of a strong customer service ethos and the successful building of commercial relationships.
- Be adaptable and have a flexible approach to ship planning duties and be able to accommodate varying workloads.
- A proactive approach to problem solving with a solutions-focussed strategy.
- Experience in working autonomously or as part of a team. The ability to make decisions and deliver whilst under pressure will be important.
**Remuneration**
We pay $85,000-$100,000 for this role, depending on your skills and experience.
