
Central Ship Planner

To provide vessel planning on a national basis for the main Australian container terminals operated by DP World Services Division ANZ, and sustain first-class interfaces (for both internal and external customers).
**Key Accountabilities**
- Optimise vessel operations in the terminals by using effective and up to date vessel planning tools, incorporating current knowledge and skill sets.
- Provide the vital link between the terminal supervisors and stowage planners by providing information and distributing data such that an effective vessel plan is achieved.
- Establish and maintain close working relationships with both internal and external customers, continuously building upon and improving service levels.
- Develop internal planning processes in the NPC and make improvements where necessary
- Maintain and update where necessary, knowledge database of related operations including the requirements of all vessels and terminals currently being serviced by DP World. Each planner will have individual responsibility relating to this.
- Remain up-to-date with all aspects of trade factors, including cargo flow patterns, volume and nature of cargoes, and any other trade-related parameters that impact upon vessel planning.
- Remain up-to-date with all aspects of ship limitations for all services planned from the centre, including on-deck obstructions, cargo stowage layouts, draft limitations, tier weigh restrictions etc.
- Planners to act as representatives to each of the shipping lines, responsible for the external communication with these customers. Tasks include visiting the ships, developing relationships with the actual vessel staff, updating and keeping vessel information up to date in all the terminals.
**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**
- Formal maritime and related qualifications preferable.
- Class | AMSA Ship Stability and Naval Architecture certificates
- Understanding of all areas of vessel operations including coordinating, schedule and planning.
- In-depth knowledge of the operations and methods of working at the four main container terminals (FT, FIT, PBT, AT, and WST).
- Excellent communications skills required for continuous interfacing with both internal and external
- Must have an analytical and logical approach to problem solving, by proactively identifying operational and system issues and recommending solutions.
