**Purpose of role**:
As External Affairs Manager for Shell Australia, you will lead a national team focused on creating and protecting value through reputational risk mitigation, pursuing strategic ambitions and growing Shell’s reputation.

You will also identify, in partnership with stakeholders from across the business, risk priorities in Australia, with a focus on Shell’s gas assets and operations in Queensland and Western Australia. You will form natural teams with specialists from across the Corporate Relations function including Social Performance, Indigenous Participation & Cultural Heritage, Corporate & Internal Communications and Policy & Advocacy, to mitigate risks and deliver opportunities for the business.

Additionally, you will support senior executives in Shell to develop deep and sustainable relationships with key decision makers including across Governments, Oppositions, regulatory bodies and industry groups.

**What we need from you**

To be successful, you will need a proven ability to form collaborative relationships through effective communication and a demonstrated ability to influence a broad group of stakeholders.

In addition, you should also have:

- Strong integrative leadership, influencing and business partnering abilities
- Thorough knowledge of policy decision-making process in the Australian energy industry
- Expertise in managing advocacy and engagement with stakeholders at the most senior level
- Demonstrated capability in Issues Management and Crisis Management
- Extensive experience in a mix of government, corporate communications, business and public affairs/strategic communications
- A strong culture commitment to safety, ethics and compliance
