Category 2 Science Technician position
Part time, Term 1 Only - 2025
25 hours across 5 days

Science Technicians are required to provide technical support and assistance to the College community to ensure the efficient operation of the Science Laboratories and the Science Program.
Some of your primary duties and responsibilities will include the following
- Preparation and Maintenance of the Laboratories
- Use, calibrate and maintain basic equipment and materials required in experiments
- Liaise with teachers regarding their requirements for practical work and maintain an efficient system for the use and allocation of materials and equipment
- Have a fundamental understanding of the concepts and practical requirements of the curriculum to advise teachers and students as required
- Assist in the maintenance of Hazardous Substances Risk Assessment forms and obtaining relevant Material Safety Data sheets
- Developing a culture of high expectations for all students
- Developing strong relationships with colleagues, students and parents
- Working with colleagues to embed more effective teaching strategies into the classroom.

About You
- Relevant post-secondary certificate or experience gained from appropriate on the job relevant experience ( e.g. experience working in a laboratory)
- Knowledge and understanding of OH&S requirements including the use of Hazardous substances, Risk Assessments and Material Safety and Data sheets
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective planning and organisational skills
- Proven competence with use of technology in a learning environment
- Acts professionally and maintains appropriate confidentiality
- Right to work in Australia
- Current Working With Children's Check
- Adherence to all College policies and demonstration of behaviours in accordance with the Child Safe Standards.
