**ABOUT THE TEAM**
The Data Discovery Team, within the Office of the National Data Commissioner (ONDC), is responsible to improve the discoverability of APS data holdings. We are looking for a highly motivated data expert, passionate about unlocking public sector data to realise full benefits of the DATA Scheme.
The Team is responsible for delivery of the ONDC objectives and KPIs related to the Data Inventories Pilot Program and the Australian Government Data Catalogue. The team is currently working with multiple APS agencies to help them discover their data and develop a standardised list of data assets they hold, which will be uploaded into a searchable, whole-of-government data catalogue, which is planned to be developed in this financial year.
The team facilitates whole of government data discovery in collaboration with other initiatives such as data.gov.au. The team also supports education and best practice guidance on data inventories, data management and good data governance to federal, state and territory government data custodians.
**ABOUT THE** OPPORTUNITY**
As an Assistant Director, you will be accountable for ensuring the team meet its deliverables and exercising sound judgement when making decisions. You will:
- lead the National Data Catalogue and the Data Inventory Pilot Programs
- provide leadership and technical guidance in implementing the catalogue and data inventories across multiple APS agencies
- advise ONDC senior management on data policies, technology and stakeholder engagement
- provide high level guidance, leadership and advice to participating APS agencies to improve their data management and governance practices
- promote innovation and continuous improvement of data inventories and data catalogue methodologies, processes and procedures
- deliver ONDC objectives and KPIs related to data catalogue and data inventory pilot programs
- manage resources and issues across the work program.
