**Position Information**:
Cartwright Public School is located in Sydney Southwest in the Liverpool region. The school has 248 students of which 74% are from a language background other than English. 7% of students are Aboriginal.

Cartwright Public School consists of 9 mainstream and 5 support unit classes. Our students come from diverse socio-economic backgrounds. The school is supported by Equity funding which is utilised to establish extra support and educational programs across the school to improve students' learning outcomes.

Our school vision is to create a school of excellence where evidence-based teacher practices build teacher and leadership capacity through research and collaboration, improving growth and achievement for all students.

Cartwright Public School's teaching staff has a balance of experienced and early career teachers. A focus on the use evidence informed practice ensures all students have access to high quality differentiated teaching and learning..

The Assitant Principal will work with other school executive to implement school initiatives and support the Principal in managing stage teams.

**Selection Criteria**:
1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with an emphasis on K-2 and ability to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complex leadership and management role of an Assistant Principal
2. Demonstrated capacity to lead school improvement initiatives in literacy and/or numeracy reflecting evidenced-based based pedagogical practice, with a focus on continuous improvement.

3. Demonstrated highly visible leadership with proven capacity to collaborate and engage with students, staff and wider community.

4. Proven ability to lead whole school programs that support well-being and engagement, promoting a positive school culture, student leadership as well as enhanced learning that support student individual learning needs.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- 2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs- 3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams- 4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents- 5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning- 6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies**Conditions**:
