This hospital and health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for Staff Specialist - Geriatric Medicine vacancies.
The hospital is the tertiary referral hospital for Tasmania, and the principal teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital provides most specialist medical services for the region or state.
The Department of Geriatric Medicine has Staff Specialists with a range of clinical, teaching and research interests and experience. This is a supportive, coherent and highly functioning team which is motivated to meet the service needs of our community and to promote education and innovation in Geriatric Care.
The Department is actively involved in clinical redesign to improve the older person’s journey within our organisation and is involved in interstate research collaborations in Dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. We participate in monthly regional outreach clinical, services.
**Duties**
In accordance with hospital policy, procedures and statutory regulations the Staff Specialist - Geriatric Medicine will:
- Provide inpatient and community-based service and work within the Aged Care Team as directed by the Head of Geriatric Medicine.
- Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to Geriatric Medicine patients.
- Actively pursue improved outcomes for Geriatric Medicine patients by participating in teaching and research relevant to Geriatric Medicine
**Essential Requirements**
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
- NZ FRACP recently qualified or experienced
- NZ SMO willing to be RACP assessed
