The Bureau's observing network assets portfolio is distributed across 12,500 sites covering all states and territories of Australia and other jurisdictions. Observing network assets include, but are not limited to, Radars, Automatic Weather Stations, Tsunami Boys, Rain Gauges and other measuring apparatus. The Solutions Lead will assist with the establishment and development of the Bureau's new asset management capability to ensure the efficient and effective lifecycle management of the Bureau's observing network asset portfolio.

The Solutions Lead will be the primary custodian of the Bureau's Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) and related processes, data integrity and continuous improvement initiatives. To assist with these responsibilities a team of technical and project experts will report to this position making management and leadership proficiency a key aspect of this role.

A key measure of success will be the organisational adoption of an asset management culture involving the uptake and utilisation of the Enterprise Asset Management system, adherence to relevant policies and plans and the establishment of an environment that fosters collaboration and communication. The Solutions Lead will take a pivotal role in this culture shift through the provision of guidance and training support to the wider organisation, the promotion of the asset management framework and strong collaboration with SMEs and asset owners.

The position is responsible for driving uptake and continuous improvement of EAMS to ensure that it represents the single source of truth for all Bureau Asset Management data and continues to be fit for purpose for organisational requirements. This will include the streamlining of business processes, involving relevant stakeholders, the management of enhancement projects, representation on technical forums and the day to day engagement / management of contractors, vendors, internal (group) resources and other project stakeholders.

Using their asset management experience and commercial acumen, the Solutions Lead will be called upon to assist in the annual strategic planning cycle. This will involve report design and generation, data and insight analysis for asset maintenance programs and budgets, supporting asset related risks and mitigation strategies and the review and updating of asset management plans.

Whilst the initial focus of this position will be the Bureau's observing network assets portfolio, the role may be expanded in future to include a diverse and significant asset base, including property and facilities, ICT, software and intangible assets such as IP and models.
