**About the team**
The IT team plays a key role to enable CCNSW to achieve its purpose and strategy. The team comprises of passionate and purposeful individuals tasked with developing and executing an IT strategy, cyber security strategy and implementation plan, and data governance roadmap. All this while having a customer centric approach to IT service delivery.
**About the role**:
The Data Governance Manager plays a crucial role in establishing good data management practices at CCNSW. This role is responsible for advocating a data-driven culture and influencing the adoption of robust data governance practices across the organization. This role is further responsible for leading data management initiatives to remediate current known risks and implementing a roadmap to increase CCNSW's overall maturity in data governance and data management.
**Key responsibilities of the role**:
- Develop and implement a data management strategy that aligns with the organisation's objectives and industry best practices.
- Create and enforce data governance policies and procedures to ensure data quality and compliance with relevant regulations.
- Facilitate the communication of data management requirements to the organisation.
- Monitor and improve the quality of data within the organisation, including implementing data quality metrics and controls.
- Oversee the management of data throughout its lifecycle, ensuring its accessibility, reliability, and timeliness.
- Provide best practice guidance and support to the business divisions.
- Drive data maturity improvements, specifically in the areas of data quality and master data management.
- Collaborate with other members of the IT team to continuously improve service delivery and effectiveness of outcomes.
- Understand and operate in compliance with applicable policies, procedures, legislation, and guidelines
- Maintain good working relationship with clients, peers and other divisions.
- Identify ways of improving systems and processes within your area of responsibility.
- Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory requirements on a timely basis.
- Perform related duties and special projects as assigned by CIO to assist in ensuring the success of CCNSW.
**About you**
**Essential**:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, Data Science, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data governance, information management, or a related area.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks and information management practices.
- Familiarity with Australian Privacy Principles and compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative and the ability to work unsupervised.
- Able to respond quickly to change and adopt a flexible approach to problems and opportunities.
- Demonstrated effective work organisation skills, including ability to develop plans and translate them to actionable activities for self and others.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong and lasting relationships with a broad base of key stakeholders.
- Knowledge or experience working with Microsoft Purview.
**Desirable**:
- Experience leading and managing a data governance function in a similar sized organization.
- Project management skills or experience is highly desirable.
- Experience in managing financial budgets.
- Knowledge or experience working with Microsoft data & analytics products.
