**Role impact & contribution**

As an Economist / Economic Analyst in the Property & Revenue Initiatives Branch, you will contribute to policy on NSW taxes, strategic projects, budget proposals and research papers. The Branch has strategic oversight of major parts of NSW’s revenue base, including stamp duty on property, land tax, emergency services levy contributions and natural resource royalties. The Branch also provides advice on related economic issues such as housing market policy and infrastructure contributions.

Your role will involve delivering high-quality advice and analysis to aid policy development, government decision-making, and implementation. You will engage in all stages of the policy process—research, design, quantitative analysis and modelling and legislative change. This role involves preparing for verbal and written briefings with senior executives and the Treasurer, engaging with stakeholders, and managing projects. A strong team focus, the ability to build trusted relationships, and leadership are crucial. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape tax policy settings and drive reforms.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

- Tertiary qualifications in economics, public policy or law or have relevant experience.
- Some experience in providing advice on public policy and/or delivering policy analysis underpinned by data and economic evidence, ideally in one or more of the following areas:

- Tax policy
- Economic policy
- Data analysis and econometrics
- Economic and fiscal modelling
- An interest in developing expertise in and contributing to tax policy and driving reform.
