The Salvation Army Australia’s Homelessness Stream provides high quality, person centred services to people at risk, and or experiencing homelessness. We support adults and families, including accompanying children with accommodation, case management, outreach support, financial assistance, connection and referral to other specialist services.

In 2020, The South Australian Housing Authority (SHA) announced significant reforms within the homelessness sector. In response to these reforms, the Toward Home Alliance was formed comprising of Aboriginal Community Services, Baptist Care SA, Lutheran Care, Mission Australia, Sonder and The Salvation Army.

Toward Home Alliance in collaboration with the South Australian Housing Authority (SAHA) has identified a need for transformational change in the way services support people affected by homelessness and have adopted an Alliance model to deliver a ‘whole system’ approach to achieving the objective of ending homelessness and recognises that every position within the Toward Home Alliance has a vital role to play in eliminating homelessness.

We are seeking a values-driven and proactive Toward Home Assertive Outreach Team Leader to lead a team of Toward Home Assertive Outreach Case Managers ensuring that a quality, client-centered approach in service delivery to end their experience of homelessness and building strong connections within the community, to enhance lives.

The team will provide assertive outreach and case management to clients experiencing homelessness, and support to those in longer term housing, who have experienced long term homelessness.
- Toward Home _Program operates within the National Homelessness Stream of The Salvation Army (TSA) and is situated across multiple sites within the Southern Region of South Australia. Reporting to the Toward Home Team Leader, This role will be required to assist at alternative sites within the Toward Home Alliance as directed.

You will successfully
- Provide cohesive leadership to the Toward Home team including contributing to the recruitment, support and supervision of the team
- Provide leadership in all day to day aspects of the case management, early intervention and assertive outreach team to ensure a high quality, efficient, effective, client focused delivery of service within guidelines
- Work in consultation with the Alliance partners Sonder and Aboriginal Community Services
- Manage data and compliance requirements in consultation with Toward Home Program Manager
- Participate in continuous improvement projects, data and evaluation Working Group meetings in consultation with Toward Home Program Manager; Coordinate local VI-SPDAT training
- Oversee the delivery of high quality supports to clients and ensuring service delivery meets standards and guidelines

You will have
- Tertiary qualifications in social sciences, social work or related
- Minimum two (2) years case management experience
- Minimum one (1) year experience in supervising and coaching teams
- Understanding of trauma informed care and what that looks like in practice
- An understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness
- Experience working with community members in crisis support setting
- Flexibility with work hours to meet the operational requirements of the position will be required
- Willingness to travel to multiple sites as well as to centres within the Toward Home Alliance, as well as periodic interstate travel
- A current SA Drivers Licence
- Valid SA Working with Children Check
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
