**Role Summary**:
The GIS Specialist is a newly created opportunity in our HSE Strategy Planning & Projects Team based at our Perth Forrest Centre site.

The GIS Specialist will develop and implement Synergy’s GIS Framework including creation and maintenance of databases, creating ArcGIS tools, analysis and mapping templates and training for internal users, creating a cartographic style guide, and developing Synergy’s protocol for data exchange with external parties and online publishing. This role will also assist the Environment team in developing a consistent approach to improving the communication of environmental, heritage, engineering design and stakeholder assets via visual GIS products.

**Key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Participate in the development and improvement of Synergy environmental management procedures and plans with implementation of GIS relevant to renewable and thermal energy projects.
- Manage GIS user access, confidentiality and data exchange to authorities, consultants, and contractors.
- Produce technically skilled and detailed solutions to including developing clear, complete, and accurate representations of spatial data using hardcopy and/or electronic media to support Synergy’s major projects.
- Determine best methods for storing and accessing inhouse and subscribed data sets and identify opportunities for connecting Synergy’s GIS with other management systems.
- Assist in developing training guides, tools, and templates to improve staff capabilities in using GIS for their work.

**What you’ll bring**:

- Tertiary qualification in Geographic Information Science or related studies (geography, environmental studies)
- Experience using ArcGIS software (Pro, Online, Enterprise), converting engineering drawings (CAD/DWG files) and working with KMZ and LIDAR data.
- Experience using Python, ModelBuilder or another common GIS scripting language is desirable, as job duties will include creating scripts to streamline frequently performed tasks.
