Based in the Illawarra, Ventia’s ‘NSW Industrial’ business group provides a range of contract maintenance and miscellaneous services work for a variety of Clients. Working within our longstanding BlueScope Plant Maintenance Contract, an opportunity exists for a **Mechanical Planner / Technician** to join Ventia and the Ore Preparation Team.
**About The Role**:
Reporting to the Team Leader, the primary focus of the Planner / Technician is to provide technical expertise, focused on providing quality, simple and cost-effective solutions which will directly improve uptime performance and / or allow plant condition to be maintained or improved, whilst ensuring zero harm (safety and environment).
The role also provides technical and safety expertise to the team, recommendations, and advice on how to best preserve the longevity of equipment (via inspections and monitoring methods) detail planning of work and participates in work scheduling and execution.
**Key accountabilities of the position include**:
- Provide leadership and take responsibility for health, safety and environment management.
- Accountability and responsibility for work tasks as the ‘Work Owner’ and/or ‘Person in Charge’ for the engaged service providers.
- Contribute to the overall asset strategy of equipment in area of responsibility and develop detail maintenance plans to deploy agreed asset strategy.
- Prepare task documentation, detail planning, to enable safe task execution, effective implementation of asset strategy, efficient use of equipment down time and lowest possible cost.
- Provide direction, technical guidance, and support in relevant discipline to other team members / service providers to complete tasks; including Commissioning/Plant Start UP.
- Monitor and report the condition of assets.
- Schedule the execution of maintenance work within the BSL SAP system.
- Capture maintenance history and ensure key spares and components are fit for purpose and available when required.
- Provide feedback and review, to enable the development of maintenance strategy.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA).
- Continuous Improvement Initiatives.

**To be successful in this role the following qualification, licences, skills and experience is required**:
- Demonstrated commitment to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards
- Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical or Fabrication Trade Qualification), or Engineering Degree
- Relevant industry experience with solid mechanical aptitude
- NSW Drivers Licence
- OHS General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
