Wall and Floor Tiler

We are small business which is growing fast and am looking for a medium to highly experienced tiler to join our team as a full-time employee.

We specialise in the tiling, cleaning, sealing and polishing of tiles, pavers, natural stone and concrete floors and tiles.

The successful applicant must be able to work as a team, manage jobs, have their own transport and speak perfect english

Experience in cleaning, sealing and polishing of tiles, pavers and natural stone is essential

You must be able to work long flexible hours and be highly reliable.

The applicant must have a thorough knowledge of tiling and be able to do jobs from start to finish.

Obvious tasks and abilities will include........

1 Checking job plans and then planning and managing timelines, materials, stock levels, required staff, equipment and assigning vehicles appropriately.

2. Liasing with clients and keeping them updated on expected timelines and possible disturbances such as access, noise, dust etc.

3. Measuring and initial planning of jobs which include layout, levels, elevation, falls, drainage and marking up of area using a laser level and / or a spirit level and pencil markings.

4. If required the removal of old tiles, grout, cement, adhesives, nails and bolts

5. Floor and wall preparation and depending on the job whether laying tiles, sealing them or grinding and polishing concrete.........

a) You must have a thorough knowledge of using scrubbing machines and their various cleaning and polishing pads.

b) A thorough knowledge of the different pads, ceramics and metal bonds required for our large grinders and polishing pads.

c) A thorough knowledge in the use of chemicals which can vary from Neutral detergents to strong alkalines, acids, solvents, paint strippers and sealer removers depending on what impurities, stains or glues need removing prior to laying.

d) The laying and repair of cracks, holes or damaged surfaces with the use of a number of products from coloured grouts, sand cement mixes, rapid set concrete mixes with or without aggregate and other silicone or glue type products.

e) The ability to strip out old concrete screeds using a jack hammer or hammer and bolster wide blade chisel

6. The spreading of tile glue, adhesives and mortar bond.onto prepared surfaces and tiles, and setting tiles into position.

7 A thorough understanding of different floors, substrates and types of screeding requirements for different jobs including falls and inserting of drains and subsequent waterproofing requirements.

8. A good understanding of all types of presealing requirements for natural stone tiles and other porous tiles and the environment in which they are going to be laid such as salt water pools etc.

9 Be competent in the use of tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles needed for edges and corners, and around objects such as fittings and pipes and ensuring they are correctly aligned and spaced and height aligned

10 Grouting tiles with both cementitious and epoxy grouts as well as removing excess grout.

11 The ability to perfectly lay all types of tiles whether man made, natural stone or cement as well as the laying of mosaics in any pattern required.

12 A thorough knowledge of the different diamond tools and grits and choice of pads, ceramics or metal bonds required for stone tile restoration and/ or the polishing or honing of tiles.

13 A thorough knowledge in the cleaning and sealing of all types of tiles, natural stone tiles and concrete tiles and the different sealers available and required for all the variances in tile finishes, colours and porosity and the requirements for where they are laid. This includes a good knowledge in both topical ad penetrating sealers as well as epoxies, acrylics, polyurethanes, anti slip and lithium based sealers.

**Salary**: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
