**About Us**

Animal Referral Hospital located in Essendon Fields is a comprehensive veterinary facility offering multi-disciplinary emergency and specialist care services to pets within greater Melbourne. With a team of exceptional emergency veterinarians, nurses, and specialized surgical and medicine departments, the hospital operates on a 24-hour basis, providing seamless round-the-clock emergency care to pets in need. Strategically situated 8 km (5.0 mi) northwest of Melbourne's central business district, the hospital receives referrals from general practice vet clinics across the state, seeking our exceptional level of care and expertise.

**About this Role**

Clinic Assistant contribute significantly to the day-to-day smooth running of the hospital and are integral part of our big team here at ARH Essendon Fields. The role duties include (but are not limited to):

- Providing our hospital patients with the basic necessities (food and water, walks, a clean bedding)
- Maintaining infection control standards and hygiene amongst the treatment areas, patient cages and presentation of the hospital
- Assisting veterinarians and veterinary nurses with animal restraint, running in-house blood work, setting up fluids and other basic clinical tasks
- Unpacking supplier deliveries and restocking
- Transport of strays to local council pounds/shelters when required

On the job training will be provided with ongoing support by nurses and existing clinic assistants, however applicants must possess the ability to work unsupervised as well as demonstrate reasonable proficiency in performing the required tasks.

**About You**

The successful applicant will need to be available for day and evening work, including some weekends, across our 24/7 operation. We strive for a work/life balance and work with all of our staff to build the best roster for them and the hospital.
- Certificate II in Animal Studies or equivalent experience
- Passion to deliver a high-level standard of patient care and hospital cleanliness
- Must possess the ability to work unsupervised as well as demonstrate reasonable proficiency in performing the required tasks
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Self-motivated and the ability to work well on your own or with a team
- Committed and positive work ethic that aligns with the core values of ARH
- Strong attention to detail with ability to multi-task

**Any vet nursing students or junior vet nurses with clinical experience with a Clinic assistant background are encouraged to apply**
