Toowoomba, Australia Toowoomba Deck Maintenance Full time

We are heading into our busiest season - spring / the lead up to Christmas. In anticipation for this we are looking for more contracted crew members to join the team.

You don't need to have a specific trade but you will need to have experience as a handyperson, cleaner, or painter.

You don't need to be skilled at all aspects of what we do from start to finish with a job. In fact, you would be a valuable asset if you loved and perfected a specific aspect of the job process and did it excellently. Having said that, all rounders are also very valued as you can be scheduled for many stages of the job.

**How it works**:
We book jobs in for the week, we allocate aspects of the jobs to our crew members depending on their skill set and availability, and crew members complete their tasks. To make it very clear to everyone involved, we use a job management software system that crew members can access via an app on their phone, and see the job details and the tasks they have been assigned.

**Crew member Job Aspects****:
**Stripping & Cleaning**:

- Apply_ commercial grade stripping agent to soften existing finishes, use commercial pressure washer to remove coatings, _apply_ timber brightener to refresh the timber and neutralise the stripping agent.
- Apply_ acid based deck cleaning products to deck surfaces including posts, rails and steps. Scrub all surfaces with a stiff brush. Thoroughly rinse off surface with commercial pressure washer.

Remove cobwebs, and debris from between decking boards.

**Sanding**:
Use a commercial drum sander / Polivac sander to remove deck finish to bare timber / raised timber grain to a smooth surface. Use an edge sander and other sanding tools to remove finish from the edge of boards as well as posts and rails. Complete a finishing sand with a high grit sand paper to create a smooth finish ready for the oil/paint to be applied.

**Oiling**:
**Painting**:
Prepare timber surface as required for optimum adhesion of paint (sanding, undercoating, removing flaking paint, patching holes etc). Mask up all areas to prevent unwanted staining. _Apply_ the recommended number of coats of Cabot's Deck and Timber paint to the prepared timber surface.

**Repairs**:
Replace decking boards that are damaged, fill cracks or imperfections, repair rails/posts, screw/nail _down_ loose nails, punch nails prior to sanding. We do not complete any structural works, just cosmetic.
