We are offering a rare opportunity for an experienced and “hands on” **Regional HSE Specialist **to join our team, based at Bulwer Island (near Pinkenba) following a retirement.
These types of opportunities don’t come along often - this is essentially a Brisbane based site role that has you home every night. You will be reporting to the Operations Manager and working closely with the Group Managers in the Risk function. The scope of your role will be diverse, supporting four sites in Brisbane that include manufacturing, transport & logistics, terminals, a laboratory and our corporate head office. You will work across the full breadth of safety, health and environment, allowing you to utilise and build on your strengths while learning and challenging yourself in other areas.
As you are embedded in the operations, we will be looking for you to bring a pragmatic approach to your work. Whether it is implementing safety systems or identifying training requirements - being able to adapt to the differing needs of each site is critical. You’ll have the support of our central function and a network of professionals across the business that you can lean on when needed.
**About the role**:
As **Regional HSE Specialist** you will:

- Take ownership of the site related component of the HSEQ Management system
- Review and propose improvements to CA’s integrated management systems
- Maintain a current and thorough understanding of HSE and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulatory requirements applicable to QLD operations
- Actively support and take ownership of HSE monitoring and management programs, Workers Compensation and Return to Work Plans
- Perform and provide support for audits, ensuring quality and closure of corrective actions
- Liaise with government and industry bodies on SHE issues or site regulatory requirements and constraints
- Lead significant incident investigations and ensure all other investigations are to standard
- Stimulate improvements in safety culture by providing strategic direction, championing issues and engaging employees and contractors in positive dialogue
- Own, oversee and develop SHE documentation, control and storage
- Partner with the central Risk team to deliver Safety, Health and Environment strategic plans and proactive improvement programs
- Analyse relevant safety and health data to identify improvement objectives and targets
- Prepare detailed reports and compile data for internal (site and central), national and state based safety and environmental reporting (e.g. NGERS/NPI, annual returns)

**About you**:

- You will have experience in a similar position, ideally with degree qualifications in health, safety and environment and/or applied science
- You are a self starter, highly organised and a natural leader
- You have clear communication skills and the ability to develop rapport quickly at all levels
- You have a pragmatic approach and a willingness to be hands on where needed
- You can develop and deliver training in a way that engages your stakeholders
- You have one or more qualifications in Cert IV training and assessment, Lead Auditor, ICAM investigation and RTW Coordinator
- You are able to travel between sites located at Bulwer Island, Pinkenba, Darra and Yatala
