This large Federal Government department is looking to engage with a APS6 Finance officer

**Your new role**

This position is responsible for providing financial management support, reporting and administration. The finance officer liaises closely with a variety of stakeholders responsible for the maintenance and continuous improvement of the branch. Responsibilities and duties will include:

- Delivery and outcomes of the financial activities as required to support the committee, subcommittees and subgroups
- Manage and coordinate month end processing i.e. accruals and journals.
- Provide a range of financial and budget services (e.g. Budget development, end-of-month and end of financial year reporting, forecasting).
- Financial analysis and reconciliation processes on a monthly basis and as directed.
- Provide financial advice within the Departmental Financial Framework, as required.
- Provide financial advice within the Financial Policy and Procedural Guidance, as required.
- Manage coordination activities relating to expenditure such as assets stock takes and ad‑hoc corporate requests.
- Ensure continual improvement in all aspects of finance, budgeting and reporting.
- Manage general administrative and coordination support.
- Required to manage and monitor emerging issues and provide solutions or advise management of any potential issues as required.

**What you'll need to succeed**
- An Australian Citizen / Baseline Security Clearance required
- Demonstrated financial capabilities and experience
- Accounting qualification (desirable but not essential)
- Strong analytical and investigative skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Be proactive in seeking solutions and outcomes
- Be a team player and contribute to a highly productive working environment
- Professional attitude and strong focus on client services
