A traineeship combines full-time employment with paid training and on the job experience. As the Wagga Leisure Maintenance Trainee, you’ll assist with maintenance, cleaning and presentation of Council’s leisure facilities including Oasis Regional Aquatics Centre, Jim Elphick Tennis Centre, Workout Wagga Gym, Bolton Park Stadium and Multi-Purpose Stadium.

**What we will offer you**

- Obtain a nationally accredited Certificate IV in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation (Aquatic Technical Operations)

**Types of tasks / activities completed in the role**
- Assist with preventative and reactive maintenance on plant, machinery and building assets
- Assist to maintain accurate maintenance and financial records
- Learn to coordinate and supervise external contractors
- Assist to ensure all swimming pools chemistry, purification, filtration, and heating are maintained in accordance with required industry and legislative standards
- Ensure consistent high levels of cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and security across all Wagga Leisure facilities
- Assist other recreation teams (Lifeguards, Learn to Swim, Customer Service, Workout Gym, Jim Elphick Tennis Centre, Stadiums)

**Traineeship information**

This traineeship will provide you with the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge in both local government and aquatic technical operations whilst being supported to learn and grow in a friendly and enjoyable working environment. Across 24 months you will work fulltime (38-hour week) alongside experienced supervisors and colleagues, gaining hands-on industry experience and receiving 3 hours paid study time per week towards achieving a nationally recognised Certificate IV qualification.

**As the successful applicant, you will need**:

- a current Class P1, P2 or C Driver’s Licence (or in the process of obtaining)
- General Construction Induction Training Card (or willingness to obtain)
- A current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Confined Spaces Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Pool Lifeguard Licence (or willingness to obtain)
- Work Safely at Heights Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- full rights to work and study in Australia
- commitment to undertaking the formal training requirements of this role
- a desire to treat others with respect and work safely to meet Work Health and Safety requirements
