Primary Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the CEO/Registrar, the Principal Investigator is a key member of the ARBV Leadership Team.
The ARBV has developed a Regulatory Strategy which defines its approach to overseeing the regulatory framework for which it is responsible. A risk-based approach to regulation, which focuses on mitigating the risks of non-compliance to enhance regulatory outcomes, is at the heart of the Regulatory Strategy.
The primary purpose of this role is to implement the ARBV's Regulatory Strategy as it relates to holding Architects accountable for their professional conduct and practice and ensuring that representations about being an architect are true and accurate. The Principal Investigator supports the Board to exercise its disciplinary decision-making powers, ensuring robust and defensible decisions in disciplinary proceedings and prosecution.
The role is directly accountable for conducting high-level, complex, and reputationally sensitive investigations and preparing assessment reports and recommendations to enable the Board to determine the appropriate course of action including referral for inquiry to the ARBV Tribunal Panel or enforcement proceedings in the Magistrates Court.
The role also leads and develops a small team ensuring high standards of complaint handling and investigative practices and adoption of the risk-based approach as enshrined in the ARBV's Regulatory Strategy.
The incumbent will have a high standard of policy development and legal skills and sound judgement to analyse and solve policy, regulatory and legal problems.
