**About the Role**

This role will be a part of the data engineering team, will work closely with ETL developers and Data engineers to provide data architectural tasks, including data models, reverse engineering, and optimise data flows and automate the data integration from multiple data sources by designing databases and purpose build data marts for business specific requirements. Data accessibility and accuracy are critical to this role to deliver fact driven high quality insurance service and care to people of NSW.

**Duties**

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as **Data Modeller** you will:

- Analysing and translating business needs into long-term solution data models.
- Evaluating existing data systems.
- Working with the development team to create conceptual data models and data flows.
- Developing best practices for data coding to ensure consistency within the system.
- Reviewing modifications of existing systems for cross-compatibility.
- Implementing data strategies and developing physical data models.
- Updating and optimizing local and metadata models.
- Evaluating implemented data systems for variances, discrepancies, and efficiency.
- Troubleshooting and optimizing data systems.

**Skills & Experience**
- Relevant experience in Data Modelling, specialising in dimensional data modelling (implementing Kimball methodology to design data marts - bus matrix, star schemas, conformed dimensions, etc.)
- Experience in modelling BI Semantic Layers - modelling Snowflake datasets will be an added advantage.
- Substantial understanding of traditional/modern BI/DW, ETL and metadata concepts.
- Demonstrated experience in using data modelling tools such as Sparx EA, Erwin, or similar.
- Hands on commercial experience or exposure to using snowflake and AWS Cloud technologies
- High level analytical, problem solving and research skills in dealing with complex enterprise system issues, including the ability to develop and implement innovative strategies and solutions to address those issues.
- A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or relevant experience in data modelling
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
