Choice of Location - One position will be located in Toowoomba. Other locations that will be considered include Mareeba, Mackay, Bundaberg or Nambour.

**Key duties of this role include**:

- Undertake contemporary soil and land resource surveys and land suitability assessments to increase the knowledge and understanding of land resources. This includes describing, classifying and interpreting soil, landform, geology and geomorphology features, particularly in relation to landscape processes including erosional processes.
- Provide expert technical advice to internal and external clients on the effective planning and management of land resources.
- Utilise relational databases, spread-sheets, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to capture, analyse and manage land resource data.
- Utilising field based GPS technology, remote sensing techniques (aerial photos, satellite imagery), digital soil mapping, geographical information systems (ESRI ArcGIS and QLD Globe) and databases to assist in the design, development, collection and delivery of natural resource information with a focus on DNRME natural resource science priorities.
- Interact with other project participants, department staff and external clients ensuring a coordinated approach to gully assessment, land resource survey projects, monitoring and research for Department of Resources natural resource science priorities.
- Using consultative and participative processes to prepare reports, briefs and correspondence.
- Other duties as directed and required.
